The Taos Door please notice how exceptionally fine and tight the end grain is ....... Please enlarge and count the "growth rings" ....... each ring indicates 1 full year of growth. Imagine ........ 40 years to grow 1 inch ...... and these trees averaged 8 to 12 ft though and some much larger ........... still think we're the "most important" being ?? |
Here is the rough lumber .... please notice the weather worn and burnt edges. This is from laying on the forest floor for over 100 years ......... the rescued ....... and brought to life !! |

I make a "jig" to lay it out precisely |
This is the first stem and the I go deeper .... but that's for "the book" ....... |
Here is a very rare piece of Desert Ironwood that was given to me by my "master" over 35 years ago ...... and it was worn and cracked then/ |
Jason resawn some planks (I wetted) and we glued on longer sticks so we could sand it in the dimensional sander |
