Here are some photos
showing the
history of the making of these beautiful
doors........
Enjoy !
Here I scanned some of the off cuts of the lumber
used in the doors
pieces
and more pieces
Each door has 4 coats of varnish oil
the oil soaks in for over an hour before wiping off
the excess
and the cure for at least 4 days between
coats
Here the bookmatched panels are being hand
sanded
and stops are precut for the panels
the class is clear, tempered, and insulated
the panels are oiled Before they are
placed in the door ....... 4 coats
all are a bookmatch and beautiful
the panels "float" in the frame and are caulked in
with a siliconized latex that turns clear
here we are making the jambs out of
Mahogany
they are made of two pieces of 1" material
........ then sanded ......
then oiled ....... 4 coats here too !!
here is a close-up of the Mahogany of the
Astragal
....... it is oiled several times too.
