I have named this door
"The Dawn Redwood"
It is constructed of Old Growth VG Redwood
with fancy Oyster Shell Mahogany panels
The glass is gold mirror bronze glass, thermal, and tempered
It is 36" wide and 80" tall and 1-3/4" thick
The "eyebrow" is bent laminated Mahogany

The glass appears as a gold mirror if there is more light in front of the glass

Here is a close-up of the "Oyster Shell" genuine Mahogany

The door framework is beautiful old growth vertical grain Redwood

The mid rail is curly Redwood and vertical piece is "bird's-eye" Redwood

The "eyebrow" is projected off the door face as an elegant design element

Who's that fellow in the window ??

Below is the history of how this door was made

The wood moisture is checked ..... and made sure it's dry ... but not to dry

Here the pieces are laid out before machining

... after machining .... the pieces are dry fitted before glue up

and the "build" begins. Each piece is pre glued 3 times

heres my "baby" in clams .... and all of the excess glue is removed

.... yup .... we take a tooth brush and water to the corners and them blow them dry with an air nozzle

Here the door will stay under clamps for at least 72 hrs

then the sanding and trimming takes place

The the door is oiled with my varnish-oil ...... 4 times before the panels and glass is added .... oiled from the inside out.

The door cures at least 48 hrs between coats

Here I am laminating the Mahogany "eyebrow" on its' form

whadya thin .. for fit ??
